Dear Parents and Carers, 

Welcome to a new school year, an exciting time as our students commence or return to their school journey. A warm welcome to those students and their families who are joining our school community. We trust you will enjoy a long and happy association with our school. We take great pride in setting high expectations for our students who are the very centre of our structured learning environment. Our Restorative Practice philosophy provides a framework for building strong relationships, effective communication, personal and social responsibility and a sense of belonging.

New Enrolments

The school is open this Friday 27 January from 8.15am to 1.45pm for new enrolments. Please contact the school office on 9626 7511 prior to visiting the school to make an appointment to complete your enrolment.

School reopening

The school office and phones will reopen this Friday 27 January at 8.15am. 

Day 1

Students in Years 1 – 6 return on Tuesday 31 January. In the morning, all returning students are to go directly to their 2022 classrooms whereby they will drop off their school bag and then return to the playground. At 8.45am students will then spend the morning with their 2022 teacher.

New students commencing at Riverbank PS in 2023 in Years 1 – 6 are to meet in the school hall at 9:30am with a parent.

Classes for 2023 will be formed throughout the first day of school.

2023 Classes

I kindly request you do not contact our school office to find out your child's 2023 class. This information will be provided in a Welcome Letter which students will bring home in their school bag on their first day of school. 

A 2023 Welcome Pack will be sent out via our school app on Tuesday 31 January at 3pm.

• Term 1 Parent Engagement Calendar
• Canteen Menu

Permission to walk to Peel Reserve notes will be sent via School Bytes

Information regarding my child’s new teacher and class

Students will have a letter in their school bag on the first day of school informing parents of their child’s new teacher, email address and class name.

Afternoon Dismissal – Tuesday 31 January 

The first afternoon of dismissal may take longer as students and families learn new procedures for pick up. As parents do not know their child ‘s class, we will have different procedures for the afternoon dismissal for Tuesday 31 January.

2.40pm

• Year 3 Covered Astro Turf area
• Years 4-6 will be dismissed directly from their classrooms and meet parents separately at an agreed location. 

From Wednesday 1 February students can be collected from their new classrooms and I strongly encourage students in years 4-6 to meet parents at the entrance to a school gate or the kiss and drop locations.

2023 Kindergarten

We look forward to welcoming our 2023 Kindergarten students from Tuesday 31 January to Friday 3 February for their Best Start appointments.

Their first day of school will be Monday 6 February.

School Hours 8.15am to 8.45am

Normal start times will remain. Gates will open at 8:15am and no supervision will be available before this time. Students who arrive to school between 8:15am – 8:45am will make their way directly to their classroom whereby they will drop off their school bag and then return to the playground. We request that all students are in the gate by half past 8, ready to commence the school day when the bell rings at 8.43am.

If your child can safely walk to school, please consider either our kiss and drop locations on Wentworth Street and Riverbank Drive or park away from the school and have your child walk to school by themselves.

Afternoon Pick-Up

Our school gates will open at 2.40pm allowing parents to collect their child directly from the classrooms. We encourage our students in years 4-6 to meet parents offsite or at the entrance to one of our gates. 

Class supplies/equipment

Class supplies are not required to be brought to school until Monday 6 February. Please do not bring them to school on the first day or during the first week of school.

School Uniform

Please be advised that all students are to wear their summer uniform for the first week of school.

Sport Uniform Days – to commence from Monday 6 February

• K-2 Tuesday and Thursday
• 3-6 Wednesday and Friday 

Meet the teacher sessions:

A meet the teacher information recording will be sent to all families on Monday 13 February outlining key curriculum and school events for the year. Parents are then invited into classrooms to meet their teacher during the following times:

8.15am to 8.45am

• Years 3-6 Tuesday 14 February
• Years K-2 Wednesday 15 February

At Riverbank, we value open communication channels in our school. You will be provided with your child’s teacher’s email address for direct communication throughout the school year.
